*Welcome*
ABOUT ME
Welcome! When life feels messy, out-of-control, even unbearable, it's easy to forget that to be messy is to be human. The stress of living under a deeply flawed and oppressive system can pull us to isolate, when we really need relational healing. If you're looking to understand yourself and your relationships to the people and systems around you, to grow and heal, and to explore being human, I would love to share this experience with you.
In the deeply personal nature of relational healing, it is important that we build a transparent and trusting relationship. I'd like to lead in that by sharing more about myself.
As a Queer, Neurodivergent, Puerto Rican, Transracial Adoptee, I am passionate about exploring intersecting identities and how these parts impact our relationships with ourselves and others. My role is to support and steward you on your path to understanding and change. In our work together, we would co-create a space that feels safe and liberating.
In addition to working in private practice, I am a full-time Family-Based Therapist serving families throughout Philadelphia. After working in family support for ten years, I graduated from Drexel University with my Masters of Family Therapy in 2021. I utilize a trauma-informed approach and draw from therapeutic models including Attachment-based, Experiential, Emotion-focused, Contextual, ESFT, and was trained in Person of the Therapist under founder Dr. Harry Aponte.
As a relational and systemic therapist, I believe people don't heal in a bubble, we heal in relation to one another and the systems in which we are a part of. I work with individuals, couples, and families struggling with challenges such as individual/generational trauma, sex/intimacy, adoption/fostering, attachment/adjustment, multiracial couples/families, neurodivergence, and LGBTQIA+ challenges.
I am also a 200 hr Registered Yoga Teacher, teaching classes independently as well as through a local non-profit called Yoga 4 Philly. In my day to day I enjoy cooking, phone calls with loved ones, and moving my body in different ways. I love traveling and spending as much time in the water as possible.
SERVICES
I offer sliding scale services at the suggested fees listed below. Please note, depending on availability I may accept clients at a lower rate than provided. This can be discussed during our initial consultation phone call. You can also find me in the Open Path Collective directory, along with other providers that offer low cost sliding scale fees.
Individual, Couple, & Family Therapy
I offer telehealth therapy services for individuals, couples, and families. All telehealth therapy sessions are 50 minutes. I'm currently accepting clients over 14 years of age. I offer a free alignment phone call to assess if I would be the right fit for what you're looking for.
Group Therapy
As an adult adoptee, I am so happy to announce that I am accepting folks for my virtual Adult Adoptee Connection Group. There are so many of us and not enough ways to connect over our shared yet very unique experiences. This group is for adoptees (ages 21+) who are looking to connect with others that understand the experience first hand. Together we'll explore different themes, narratives, and challenges we navigate as adoptees. It is time for us to center our experiences and move away from judgments we may have been carrying. Registration for the fall cycle is now OPEN. If you have any questions, you're welcome to call/email me.
Lectures & Events
I am also available for guest lecturing and speaking engagements. Please reach out to me directly at jamiemlmft@gmail.com for inquiries and to stay informed about my other events and workshops.
